Here is something we may not often think about: We become what we worship. In Ezekiel God is called Sovereign LORD 215 times! 215. Over 60 times this phrase “then you will know that I am the LORD” is used, usually in reference to something horrific that occurs. So it is obvious Judah had no idea that Yahweh was their only God, despite their long history with him. It is obvious because of their behavior. In Ezekiel 22: 6 – 12 there is a long and sickening list that catalogues the sinful practices Judah regularly practiced. These were not something that once and never again, these are things they engaged in constantly. Words like contempt, oppressed, mistreat, despised, and desecrate describe their actions and their hearts. They became just like the corrupt and vile gods they worshipped. They ignored and rejected the reality that Yahweh is the Sovereign authority of their lives. Are we any different? “Jesus is Lord” is the foundational confession of the Christian. Jesus is the authority over all of our lives. We surrender all to him and him alone. This confession might not be repeated 215 times or said over 60 times but it is the central truth we acknowledge and live by. It is what we say, and it must be what we live. Our behavior will mirror that which we worship. The lists of sins in the New Testament are not all that different from the list in Ezekiel. The false gods of this age lead to behavior every bit as vile as then. And the result will be the same – Judgment. Judgment doesn’t come arbitrarily. There is a reason, a cause for it. Judgment is earned, remember what Paul told us: the wages of sin is death. So then, we live for and serve the Sovereign LORD and his Son, Jesus, who is our Lord, the Anointed and Chosen One, our Savior. As you go about your business today just say these words “Jesus Is LORD!” Repeat this all day long. Because we become what we worship.

This is my new blog. The name Pisteou Mono means "only believe". It is what Jesus said Jairus when he came to heal his daughter. This is our calling, we who know and follow Jesus. We are to only believe, or if you like, just believe.

Faith is an interesting thing, it calls to act out of not only belief and understanding, but out of trust and surrender as well. We are to believe in Jesus, we are to follow him wherever he leads us. Honestly, there are times when this can be hard. We live in a culture that does not always understand Jesus, well - most of the time actually. Our culture does not always understand or appreciate us - the disciples of Jesus. But we keep following and obeying Jesus, which means we will keep loving those around us, no matter what. We do not get right all the time, but believing also include growing.

This blog is going to be about that - believing, growing, and following Jesus in a sometimes confusing and strange land. It is also how I see this and what is wandering through my mind as follow Jesus. So let this begin.
